Feeling scattered

Dear Tamie:

I'm overwhelmed all the time. I can barely think a complete thought, let alone accomplish what I was thinking about. What can I do?

Scattered in Seattle:

I know the feeling. Only this year (at 58 years old) did I realize that had my very own special version of ADHD. It only came about because I read an article about how women tend to present ADHD differently than men. Also, I thought the “H” in ADHD meant energetic physical body hyperactivity and then it dawned on me that the reason I was chronically fatigued was because my brain was hyperactive, not my body. No wonder I could rarely get from Point A directly to Point B!

I also believe that there is an unresolved trauma component to it – kinda like our brains are avoiding all the traumatic landmines – as we go about our lives. It's been exhausting and crippling and I was wont to blame myself.

Many blessings to us as we learn to heal and love ourselves all the while.
